The U of R Cougar wrestling team is still looking for answers as to why their program and the men’s volleyball program is being eliminated.
Representatives from both are asking University officials to speak with them in a public forum Monday afternoon, so they and others asking questions can get them answered, with some kind of solution perhaps being reached to continue on.
Wrestler Paul Tokarz is organizing the event. He said they want officials to know they are more than willing to do their part to keep the program alive and used another team’s model as an example.
“We’re kind of going off the model how the Rams have been self sustaining. Our point is, if we can raise money for travel and expenses, you provide the facilities and we can still keep our name as the University of Regina Cougars men’s and women’s wrestling team,” Tokarz said.
The event will go at 5 at the Level 10 compound at 1425 McAra. Tokarz is hoping President Vianne Timmons, Dean of Kinesiology Harold Riemer and athletics director Lisa Robertson will all attend.
