A rising number of Saskatchewan rural municipalities are declaring a fire ban because of tinder dry conditions.
The president of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, Ray Orb, says RM’s are concerned about the rising number of wildfires across the province in recent weeks.
He expects more fire bans will be imposed by RM’s unless the weather changes.
He is hoping wet weather will arrive soon to reduce the hazard of field and pasture fires.
Orb encourages farmers to inform their RM office and neighbors if they plan to do a controlled field burn so everyone can be prepared for a possible wildfire.
