With the opening ceremonies going Thursday for the Memorial Cup, Regina’s Mayor is confident the city can put on one of the most memorable parties ever.
Michael Fougere looks to successful events in the past to back up his prediction.
“We are experts at putting on big events,” Fougere told 620 CKRM. “we’ve done the Grey Cup before we had the Juno awards and a host of other events that were incredible. We will once again show we have the best base of volunteers in Canada,” Fougere said.
Fougere says with Brandt Centre improvements and Thursday’s open ceremony, a news standard for future hosts will be set.
“It’s an event like no other, I mean we’re really going to have the best Memorial Cup celebration ever in Canada.” It will be hard to top when you have of course the Eagles concert and the combined celebration over the next ten days will be incredible,” said Fougere.
The Pats preliminary round Friday night at 8:00 p.m. against the Hamilton Bulldogs. 620 CKRM will have the call for you.
