CAA Saskatchewan is reminding drivers that safety always comes first.
If you’re on the road this weekend, spokesperson Christine Niemczyk said whether that trip is long distance or sort, it’s always a good idea to keep an emergency kit packed, just in case.
“You also want to take some non-perishable food with you, granola bars, some drinking water is always a good idea,” Niemcyzk says. “With that phone, reach out to those to let them know where you are, so be aware of your surroundings.”
Niemczyk also said continuing to stress the importance of good safety practices is essential to making sure motorists understand what circumstances they just might encounter.
“Just think, ‘if something were to happen to me, do I have things in my vehicle to keep myself and my passengers safe?'” Niemcyzk says. “‘Do I have a mobile phone to call for help? Do I have extra water and food in case we get stranded and we’re hungry?'”
