The Saskatchewan government is recognizing people and programs in the community who are getting seniors involved.
The Age Friend Community Recongnition Program was announced Thursday.
Minister of Health Jim Reiter said the program originally began with discussions with the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism.
“They had approached me some months ago with a proposal to do this,” Reiter said.
“To recognize communities that are senior friendly and age friendly, so I was happy to do it,” he added
Reiter said following the administrative side, the SSM will have to establish parameters for recognition, like accessible services and community activities targeted to seniors.
