The Regina Humane Society is offering another promotion where the cost of an adoption has been slashed. Adoptions are not free this time though as other promotions have seen, but the cost of an adult cat ( 6 months or older) adoption has been slashed to just $50 with the price of adopting a kitten reduced to 99 dollars.
As always, adoptions at RHS include spay/neuter surgery, a complimentary vet exam, microchip, tattoo, vaccinations and 30 days of free pet insurance.
Humane Society spokesperson Bill Thorn says cats just continue to come in.
“We’ve seen an incredible amount of cats come in in recent weeks.” Thorn said. “One day last week, we had 23 come in and similar numbers on a couple of other days. That’s just too high.”
He says while the humane society realizes it is tough to keep having events like this, one that hurts their bottom line as well, it is something they have to keep doing hoping Reginans will either decide it is time to have a cat or add another cat to their family.
“We’ve got about 100 to 120 in house right now which is not good.” Thorn says. “When you have a number that high, it is more difficult to manage them and keep them healthy”
The feline adoption event started Monday and runs through until Sunday.
