Another construction project on the Ring Road at Victoria Avenue begins Monday.
The project will see replacement of the on/off ramps at Victoria Avenue and the Ring Road with work scheduled to be complete by the end of October 2018.
Karen Gasmo is the city’s Director of Transportation and Utilities. She said the project, which costs 5.5-million-dollars, will mean a closure of the North Service Road where it goes under the Ring Road. While a lot of people do use that stretch to ease the congestion on Victoria Avenue East, Gasmo said it isn’t as many as you would think.
“We certainly know that the service road gets considerable usage, but traffic counts are quite low so there should be minimal impact.” Gasmo said.
That being said, Gasmo does anticipate there will be some congestion on Victoria Avenue because of the project, but you would get that around any road construction projects.
