Messy Messy Messy

The front page of the Leader Post has a shot of the post Craven campsite this morning. In the shot are a lawn mower, lawn chair and a cooler, all left behind for someone else to get rid of. Believe it or not, these are some of the smaller items left behind.

You’ll also find couches, recliners and even small decks that people have pulled there campers away from! Yup, decks! People actually will erect a small deck on the sides of their trailers to sit on for the Jamboree. People take their Craven party locations very seriously.

I think that’s great. What I don’t think is great is that people will leave all of this stuff behind for someone else to get rid of. There are service clubs that get paid to come in and do the clean up after the show. I don’t think they had plans to move a bunch of old couches off the site, but they should, it happens every year.

Although, personally, I would have a garbage bag handy for all of my empty cans, paper plates and the like, I can understand that with 23,500 people camped out, you’ll still have a lot of litter. It goes with the territory. What I can’t understand is why people would take a couch out to the site and then just leave it for someone else to get rid of. I’d hate to see where and how these people live. They probably live in a pigsty. If that’s the way they live when they’re away from home, it’s probably how they live period.

Someone even left a beat-up tent trailer behind! Probably paid a couple of hundred bucks for it and didn’t really care. It was just another casualty.

I’m certainly not perfect, but I am somewhat of a neat freak. Not only is our house always neat and tidy, I just couldn’t leave a mess behind, no matter where I went!

You know what? I’m starting to sound like my dad more and more everyday!
