It’s been many years since I participated in spring seeding. I miss it. I loved the optimism that a new growing season would bring. Everyone would be ready to go after getting the machines ready. This year, seeding will be a little late for some farmers. Even at this time of the year, many people are thinking about frost in the fall so they want to get the crop in as soon as possible.
It’ll be a busy weekend on the farm. We have the moisture and now it’s time to get the crop in the ground. Seeding is 5% complete in Saskatchewan but I expect that number to go up quickly.
I’m sure there will be a few meals in the tractor this weekend. If you’ll be seeding, don’t get too wrapped up in getting the job done. Enjoy the experience!
