Evraz fined $126,000 after worker injured on the job

Evraz has been fined $126,000 after an employee was injured at work.

The Toronto-based company pleaded guilty to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety regulations in Regina provincial court on Monday.

The charge is for failing to provide proper lighting while workers were present resulting in a serious injury.

This stems from an incident in September of 2016 when a workers foot was injured by hitting a piece of waste metal while they were riding on a railcar.

The company was fined $90,000 and a surcharge of $36,000.

Two other charges were withdrawn.
