Colder temperatures expected later this week

A cold snap is coming to southern Saskatchewan later this week.

Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips said unusually warm Pacific Air will be replaced by cold Arctic air in the middle of the week.

“We’ll see temperatures cool off, but not brutally cold, Phillips said. “It will cool off to close to seasonal for this time of year where highs will be about -11 or -12 and as I said that would be about normal,” he added.

Phillips said there will be a polar vortex of cold air later this month, but it will be short-lived.

He added the long-range forecast is for normal to warmer than usual winter, spring and summer.
