Regina Police say from the timeframe of December 24th to January 4th, they had 38 calls for service regarding COVID-19 and whether or not someone was violating the public health order on the size of gatherings at home.

Spokesperson Elizabeth Popowich says one of those 38 calls did result in a $2800 fine being handed out, but in many of the cases the visit turned into nothing as guidelines were being met.

While members attended to 38 calls, Popowich says several people did call the communications centre with a question.

“We received probably 10-20 calls a day that we would say are COVID-related.” Popowich said. “Those people had questions about the order and whether or not they could do this or do that and not be in violation of the order and were satisfied once they got their answer.  We have had a number of calls throughout the pandemic from people looking for information. Sometimes we can answer it and other times we have had to refer them to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.  It has been steady.”
