Four businesses fined for not following public health orders

The Government of Saskatchewan has handed down over $25,000 in fines to four businesses that failed to follow public health orders.

The SKBuilt Gym in Regina faced the biggest fines as they received a $2,800 fine for failure to mask and a $14,000 fine for failure to check for proof of vaccination or a negative test.

The Whole Leaf Healing Tree in Regina, the Kingdom Sound Academy in Swift Current, and the Sweet Treats Candy Company in Moose Jaw all received $2,800 fines for failure to mask.

Businesses that violate public health orders can be fined up to $10,000 and individuals can be fined $2,000, plus a 40 per cent victim surcharge, under the Public Health Act, the province says.

Under The Health Information and Privacy Act, the provincial health ministry cannot disclose the names of individuals fined.
