Regina sports legend getting financial support as he fights COVID-19

Warren Woods, or “Woodsy” as he is affectionately known by to many in the Regina sports community,  is seeing the love from that community.

In early December, the 66-year-old Woods was hospitalized due to COVID-19.  He remains in hospital today with people close to him being optimistic that he has turned the corner.

A GoFund me page has been set up to help Woods with medical needs.  Tim Rogers set up the page and says what those needs are right now remain a question mark.

“There’s going to be a long road ahead.” Rogers said. “We don’t know what it is going to take and what his needs are right now.  It’s an unknown.  The money will go to anything he needs in recovery.  What type of rehabilitation needs will he need and what will it cost.  They are questions that need to be answered.

Woods became a staple in Regina when STV (now Global Regina) hit the air in September 1987.  He brought the sports news of the day to you on “Sportsline” at 11 o’clock each night in what Rogers says was a precursor to TSN’s Sportscentre and was the spot for him and many others to see the latest highlights and headlines.
