Friday is Wear Plaid for Dad day

Friday June 14th is Plaid for Dad day.

It’s an effort by Prostate Cancer Canada to raise funds for research and emphasize the importance of early detection of prostate cancer.

The Saskatchewan chair of the wear Plaid for Dad campaign, Robin Speer, says one in seven men in Canada will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Speer says prostate cancer is 99 percent treatable when detected early.

But he says late detection can be fatal.

Every year, Speer says 20 thousand Canadians are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The plaid for dad campaign is designed to promote discussion on early detection.
