APAS welcomes third canola crushing plant for Regina

APAS welcomes announcement of a third multi-million dollar canola crushing plant for Regina.

Federated Co-op is building a renewable diesel plant, using canola.

A joint venture with AGT Foods will see construction of a 360 million dollar, 1.1 million ton canola crushing plant.

Outgoing APAS president Todd Lewis calls it great news for farmers.

Lewis says the facility will increase markets and competition for farmer’s grain.

He says farmers will see lower costs because of shipping to Regina is cheaper than Vancouver.

Viterra and Cargill have also announced plans to build multi-million dollar canola crushing facilities in Regina.
