Well, the turkey is done…get ready for the Candy Overload!
Growing up as a kid, Halloween was more about “Halloween Apples”. Boy, that dates me! But that’s what it was. Growing up in the small village of East Selkirk, Manitoba, everyone went door to door shouting “Halloween Apples”! I never heard trick or treat until much later. Oh, there were homes that gave out some candy or baked goodies. You knew who the families were. They would virtually give out the same stuff every year. You hit the good ones…missed the questionable ones. But apples, apples and more apples was the grab of the day. By the time you hit twenty houses, the weight of the goodie bag was almost too much to handle.
Like too much turkey at Thanksgiving, it was apple everything. Apples for lunch, baked apples, apple sauce, apple pie, apple juice…and on and on. It was all good for you. But as a kid, you wanted sweet treats.
Today, it’s all sweet treats. I hear the dentists rubbing their hands around Halloween. How do you manage to eat 50 pounds of candy?
What concerns me most is the danger of Halloween. The challenged side of society who prey on the little ghosts and goblins and steal the treats and in some case injure the trick or treaters. Where does that come from? What did Mom and dad NOT do to give these kids that attitude?
Halloween is only 3 weeks away, so it’s time to start planning costumes, decorating the home and the yard and deciding what you will give away this year. Will the recession hit your goodie tray? I hope not. Lets have some safe fun.

Thank you. I appreciate that!
