The provincial NDP want to know exactly what finance minister Kevin Doherty up his sleeve.
Earlier today, Doherty said “draconian cuts”, deficits or tax hikes are the only options to deal with ongoing low oil prices and seeing they don’t have the forecasts, they will not be handing out a provincial budget before Saskatchewan voters go to the polls in April.
That statement has raised the eyebrows of the opposition.
Deputy leader Trent Wotherspoon says hiding their plan is completely unacceptable and deceptive.
In a release, Wotherspoon says there was a time when the economy was booming and there were huge windfall revenues, but the Saskatchewan Party has squandered that money leaving Saskatchewan families to wonder in this economic time what the government’s misplaced priorities will mean now.
