Rosemont Community School was placed in a “Secure-the-Building” mode for approximately fifteen minutes Friday afternoon while police investigated an incident nearby.
Police received a report about a domestic assault that took place on the 5600 block of 5th Avenue and there could be firearms inside the residence.
Since the incident was occurred near two schools, the buildings enacted their Secure-the-Building processes.
An 28 year old man was arrested at the location without incident, and the firearms were located with the secure the building protocol being lifted shortly after.
Travis Holtskog has been charged and will be in court on Monday to deal with the charges against him.
As the name suggests, “Secure-the-Building” is a situation whereby all outside doors are locked to secure the building.
Each exterior door is to be monitored by designated school staff until Secure-the-Building mode has been lifted.
Entry and exit of the building will be at the front doors only and are monitored by police and school administration. Regular interior school activities continue in a controlled manner.
