Tuesday morning when I came into work I noticed a lot of empty water bottles around the office. These are the big bottles we use for our water coolers and more importantly, our coffee! I wasn’t too worried. There were a couple of bottles left and I was sure the water guy would be here in the next couple of days.
Yesterday morning when I got into work I noticed there were no new full bottles of water in the area that they are usually kept and supply for the coolers was down drastically. My first stop was the coffee machine. I peeked under the counter where the bottle is kept to replenish the water supply for this most important beverage. The bottle was about 3/4 empty, but there would be enough to get me through the morning.
After our receptionist arrived at 8, I headed straight to her desk and advised her of our low water supply and how ticked I would be if there wasn’t any water for my morning coffee the next day! Diann had told me she had been in contact with the water company a couple of times, and despite their promises, no water had shown up yet. She told me not to worry, she’d definitely be placing another call once the company opened for business. Great!
This morning I came in to work and I noticed something. There were no longer water bottles sitting atop our coolers. They were empty and placed in the water bottle graveyard, which now sits at 25 casualties. Twenty five empty bottles! I raced to the coffee machine expecting the worse. I need my morning coffee! I opened the cabinet and found a water bottle over half full. Where did this little baby come from? I don’t care. I was elated! I could enjoy my 3 A.M. coffee. Some other coffee lover must have hoarded an extra bottle, just in case we ran into a scenario just like this! Thank you water hoarder, whoever and wherever you are.
Another morning, another coffee.
We’ll see what happens tomorrow morning. I’ll keep you posted!
