The Scotties Tournament of Hearts started in Grande Prairie, Alberta Thursday night with qualification games, but the event itself will get underway in earnest Saturday afternoon.
When the first rocks are thrown, the Saskatchewan rink skipped by Regina’s Jolene Campbell will be more than ready.
Campbell, along with 3rd Ashley Howard, 2nd Callon Hamon and lead Ashley Williamson, have only been together for one season, but the Regina Highland rink won the provincials defeating Michelle Englot in the semi and defending champ Stefanie Lawton to advance.
Campbell says her young rink realizes what is ahead of them, and they have everything mapped out as to what to expect and what duties need to be handled off the ice.
She considers the rink to be a dark-horse.
Campbell is the only member of the team to have experience being at a Scotties as she was the 5th for Amber Holland when she won the event in Charlottetown in 2011,
Team Saskatchewan will play Nova Scotia’s Jill Brothers in their first game Saturday afternoon.
