Canada’s public safety minister suspects the American no-fly list — and not Canada’s secret air-security roster — may be what’s causing some Canadian youngsters to be prevented from boarding commercial flights.
Ralph Goodale has written a letter to a representative of dozens of families whose children have had trouble boarding planes.
He says delays can happen for passengers who have the same name as someone on the Canadian list or on another security-related list such as the U-S no-fly list.
Goodale vowed to investigate after six-year-old Syed Adam Ahmed was delayed at Toronto’s Pearson airport on New Year’s Eve as he and his father tried to board an Air Canada flight to Boston for the N-H-L Winter Classic.
