All Jolene Campbell and Team Saskatchewan can do now is wait.
After beating Newfoundland 8-4 in the morning draw Thursday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Grande Prairie, Alberta, a win over Chelsea Carey of Alberta would have given her at worst a tiebreaker.
With the game tied at 5 in the final end, and Campbell holding last rock, she elected to hit instead of draw with her last shot.
That decision turned out to be the wrong one as Campbell hit and rolled out leaving Alberta a steal of one and a 6-5 win to clinch first place for Chelsea Carey.
Campbell will need New Brunswick’s Sylvie Robichaud to beat Manitoba’s Kerri Einarsson in Friday morning’s final draw.
If Einarsson wins, she will move into the playoffs, but if Robichaud wins, there would be tie-breakers with Campbell involved as she finishes the round-robin at 6-5.
