A Regina couple convicted in the death of a 4 year old girl in their care in the summer of 2012 have received their sentences.
Justice Ellen Gunn has sentenced Tammy Goforth to life in prison with no chance of parole for 17 years, while Kevin Goforth gets 15 years in prison, less a year for time served.
A relatives of the girl’s mother says the family is pleased with the judges decision and feel at peace.
“It was more than what I expected, but we knew we would get justice for both of them.”
Tammy had been found guilty of second degree murder, with Kevin found guilty of manslaughter in the case. Both were also found guilty with unlawfully causing bodily harm to the girl’s two year old sister who survived her ordeal.
During their trial, court heard about how the girls were severely malnourished and at some times restrained.
