In the next 25 years, Martensville will need about 75 to 140 per cent more land to accommodate its population growth
By 2040, the population of one of Canada’s fastest growing cities could more than double to almost 21,000 and could reach 32,000 by 2065.
Director of Infrastructure & Planning, Joe Doxey, says that’s why they commissioned a Future Growth Plan.
One of the challenges expected is access to primary healthcare as Martensville grows.
Doxey says Martensville is working to attract and keep doctors in the community, a new school is being built and they are in the beginning stages of a waste water improvement project.
What happens next is incorporating the information from the plan into their Official Community Plan and Infrastructure Master Plan.
Public engagement will begin this summer.
