NDP Leader Cam Broten has plans to hire 300 teachers and 300 educational assistants if his party is elected on April 4.
Broten says he will restore the mid-year adjustment as a way to properly fund student growth.
The NDP says it will also work with school boards to set caps on class sizes.
Broten says Saskatchewan children need more attention in the classroom.
“Teachers are stretched thin – they’re often dealing with more than 30 kids in a classroom, many with additional needs, and coping with deep cuts to the number of EAs compared to the number of students,” said Broten. “That’s not fair to educators and it’s certainly not fair to students. Our kids deserve better than this.”
The estimated cost over four years is $137 million.
