The Regina Pats and Lethbridge Hurricanes meet in game one of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series tonight in Lethbridge. It is the first time since the 1996 season that the two clubs have met in the post season.
The Hurricanes are coming off a 46 win season and won the Central Division title. The Pats won 36 games during the season and finished in the first wild card spot in the conference.
The Pats went 3-1-0-0 against the Hurricanes in the regular season series. There were 46 total goals scored in those 4 games, 24 by the Pats and 22 by the Hurricanes for an average of 11.5 goals per game.
The Pats boast the WHL’s scoring champion Adam Brooks who had a 120 point season while the Hurricanes have Brayden Burke who finished third in the scoring race with 109 points.
The Pats and Hurricanes were two of the hottest teams in the second half of the season. The Pats went 21-13-0-3 in 37 games after the Christmas break while the Hurricanes went 22-13-1-1. Only two other teams, Red Deer and Brandon, had 20 or more wins in the second half of the regular season.
