A special K-9 team and their partners are being commended for their work to keep Alberta free of invasive mussels.
Hilo and Diesel — two of the team’s working dogs — were honoured during a visit to the legislature.
The dogs and their handlers have completed more than 600 inspections at waterways across the province, where they look for boats fouled by the mussels.
Each watercraft that is inspected by a canine receives a special “You’ve Been Sniffed” card, which includes a picture of the dog.
