Yesterday my wife and I made our annual trek out to Moose Jaw to watch our granddaughters dance. It’s always a big event with people coming and going nonstop. Parents, grandparents, relatives and friends crammed the Albert E. Peacock Collegiate auditorium trying to jockey for the best seats to watch their loved ones dance.
One of our granddaughters danced in the 9 A.M. session, although she didn’t actually hit the stage until about 10:20, while the other danced at 1. It was a beautiful day for a drive out to the beautiful city of Moose Jaw. There is something about Main Street in that city that I just love. It’s got that small town charm.
Between dance sessions my wife and I decided to head out and have brunch. We found a place that offered a brunch for $15.95 per person, so we decided to pull in and have a bite to eat. We had eaten at the restaurant a few years ago when it was at a different location. Seeing as we were satisfied the last time we ate there, we decided it would be a logical stop. I wish we had of driven right past this place and found another restaurant.
The buffet was what I would call a little “skimpy” when it came to variety. And, what was there, didn’t look all that appetizing. We hadn’t eaten yet that morning, so we were a bit peckish by the time we rolled in. Usually when you’re really hungry, everything looks good, right? Well not this time. I settled on 3 sausages, 1 helping of Eggs Benedict, and a spoonful of hash browns that were a little too heavy on the spinach. That’s all I had, and even that sucked. My wife, who very seldom complains about anything, didn’t like her breakfast either. That was very odd.
We didn’t stick around for long.
I got the bill, which came to about $33. I gave the waitress a couple of twenties and told her to keep the change. The food was bad, but the service wasn’t.
After breakfast we took a little drive outside of the city before making our way back to Peacock Collegiate for the final dance session.
All in all, it was a wonderful day. Moose Jaw was as beautiful as always and the girls were even more beautiful!
