Yesterday morning after work I completed my two-day vehicle cleaning with a trip to the car wash. The day before it was the inside that got spiffed up, yesterday it was the outside.
I didn’t expect the car wash to be that busy at 10:30 in the morning and I wasn’t disappointed. There were a few bays that were totally empty. I plugged in my toonies and got to work. I didn’t use the foam brush because I figured the wand would get the job done. I should have known better.
By the time I got home and the vehicle had dried off I noticed that it didn’t look a heck of a lot cleaner than it did before I got to the car wash. Both sides of the vehicle still looked quite dirty. After humming and hawing for a while I decided to get a pail of hot water and a nice soft cloth and head out to the street to finish the job the right way.
While I was out there, my neighbour Amanda came out of her front door, stood on her step, and more less called me a traitor. Who? Me? For what do I deserve these barbs from one of my friendly neighbours? Apparently she had been listening to the show earlier in the day when I predicted the Red Deer Rebels would defeat the Regina Pats in game 7 in Alberta. Fair enough. That was my prediction all right. I was busted by a diehard Pats fan. I told her the only reason I gave the Rebels the edge was because of the home ice advantage, which appeared to be huge. All wins in the series were on home ice and I didn’t think that would change.
I asked her if she’d like to make a bet on the game. She did. If I was wrong and the Pats won, I’d have to run her daycare for a day. That shut me up. I get worn out looking after my 2 granddaughters for a few hours. Judging by the number of kids who get dropped of at her place on a daily basis, I knew I wouldn’t last ten minutes. I politely declined the bet.
I should have bet that if the Rebels won, she’d have to wash my car for me the next time. She couldn’t have done a worse job.
Then again, I don’t know how she’d fit all of those kids into my vehicle for the drive to the car wash.
