When the school year ends in a couple of months, so will the employment of 26 school assistant support staff in Moose Jaw.
The Prairie South School Division has announced the move saying it is being done for financial reasons.
The move, which will affect seven schools, will save the division between 350-thousand to 400-thousand dollars in the next school year.
The move also comes before the provincial government releases its budget on June 1.
Speaking with reporters at the Legislature on Wednesday, Premier Brad Wall indicated there could be a slight increase in spending for the education sector when finance minister Kevin Doherty announces that budget.
