Britain and all other Commonwealth nations, including Canada, are wishing Queen Elizabeth a happy 90th birthday Thursday.
Britain’s oldest and longest-serving monarch is celebrating with family at Windsor Castle and a planned short walk through town, while the U-K is celebrating with gun salutes, fireworks and tributes in Parliament.
Her Majesty will also be lighting a beacon to mark the milestone birthday.
Heather Solloum, Private Secretary to Saskatchewan’s Lieutenant Governor says Regina residents are invited to celebrate the Queen’s birthday with a luncheon hosted by the Monarchist League on May 21, at the Hotel Saskatchewan.
Solloum says she the Queen traditionally holds a larger celebration in June each year.
Solloum says she and Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield had the opportunity to meet the Queen in 2005, and says it was a moment she will never forget.
