It won’t quite reach the high water levels of 2014, but the Water Security Agency is advising localized flooding in the Canora area.
WSA spokesperson, Patrick Boyle, says tributaries to the Whitesand River and Good Spirit Lake in this area, including Spirit Creek and Crooked Hill Creek, are flowing out of bank creating localized flooding issues.
The forecasted-peak for Good Spirit Lake is just 0.15 metres lower than the 2014 peak level, and it’s expected in early May.
Because of this, the public is urged to take caution when traveling in the area and those that were afftected by flooding in 2014 should start taking flood prevention actions.
Boyle says the flooding is because of the rapid melt of the snowpack.
