The annual Blue Cross MS walk took place on Sunday.
Hundred of people participated in the walk with City of Regina Mayor Michael Fougere and Regina MP Ralph Goodale taking part in the kick-off festivities.
Amanda Matechuk was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 17 years ago and her team raised over 20,000 dollars for the campaign.
Matechuk says these are events are important for those living with the disease.
“It brings awareness for people with MS and it helps them feel supported,” Matechuk says. “There’s tons of people here who have some connection to MS.”
Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system. It interferes with the brain’s signals to the rest of the body.
The walk the MS Society’s largest fundraiser and proceeds from the walk help support multiple sclerosis research and services.
In total there are 148 MS walk events in Canada and 11 in Saskatchewan.
