As of Friday afternoon, there were seven fires burning in Saskatchewan, all of which were contained.
Mieka Cleary with Emergency Management Fire Safety says the province is prepared to battle any blazes that start up.
“Emergency Management Fire Safety has set up caches up equipment in the Battlefords and Regina, which are there to augment local response capacity.”
She says the government of Alberta has put in a request for assistance, and as a result, staff is helping at its Emergency Operation Centre.
“EMFS has now sent three staff members with experience in incident command.”
Dr. Saqib Shahab, Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer says residents should keep an eye on the government’s website to check on air quality from any smoke.
