Updates from three liaison officers at Alberta’s Emergency Operations Centre indicate the Fort McMurray fire has not made any movement toward Saskatchewan.
Steve Roberts with Wildfire Management says the rain in the province’s south has removed high risks from most of Saskatchewan.
“With extra precipitation, cooler temperatures and higher humidity, we now have a portion of the province only in the western section of the forest that remains at high or extreme fire hazard.”
The government remains in close contact with northern communities and is keeping a close eye on the eight wildfires currently burning in the province.
Roberts says the government will be removing a number of Provincial Parks from the fire ban list today.
