Regina is celebrating Canada’s 149th birthday with a variety of events.
The festivities got kicked off in the morning with a pancake breakfast.
A 21-gun salute is being held at noon with live music throughout the day.
A strongman competition will take place in front of the legislature, where the top three athletes will be moving on to represent Western Canada at the Canada’s Strongest Man competition in September.
The Living Flag returns again the year.
Over 1000 red and white t-shirts will be handed out as residents create a “living” Canadian flag.
The day’s events will conclude with a fireworks display at Wascana lake.
The fireworks are scheduled for 10:30 P.M. depending on sunset and the weather.
Wascana Centre Authority is reminding people that no watercrafts are allowed on Wascana Lake during the fireworks due to the shrapnel from the fireworks being dangerous.
