Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan has announced a new award for those who work hard to promote Saskatchewan agriculture and help farmers build public trust in the food industry.
The Food and Farm Champion award will be bestowed on individuals, organizations or businesses who have taken the initiative to speak up about agriculture in the province.
Nominees have used their skills to engage consumers or correct misinformation about production practices, and have done a measureable job of promoting the agriculture sector.
The award is designed to recognize those in the community who help enhance the public confidence in food and farming.
Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan says with the use of social media and misinformation, farmers and ranchers need to join the conversation to ensure public perception is not swayed by too many people
who know very little about food production.
Nominations are to be submitted by September 30th with a winner selected for the annual Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan annual conference December 14th and 15th in Saskatoon.
