PokemonGo users are being told not to play the game near any correctional or young offender facilities.
The Ministry of Corrections reminds video gamers that it’s not safe for anyone, and these facilities are private property and highly patrolled.
Spokesperson Drew Wilby says the game was just released in Canada and there have already been a few instances, but he doesn’t want to say at which facility for fear of attracting more gamers.
He did say though that one young offender facility in the province in particular has seen a few gamers playing PokemonGo.
Wilby’s advice is to not enter the property of a youth open custody facility and stay away from the fences and gates of any correctional or young offender facility to ensure the safety and security of the facility, the staff and the offenders along with the player.
Anyone who gets too close will be approached.
At the same time, the Ministry wants people to enjoy the game, just not near a corrections facility.
