A grain movement monitor expects the railways to follow through on a promise to be ready to move this fall’s bumper crop to market in a timely fashion.
Mark Hemmes of Quorum says the railways have been warned about a large crop this year.
Three years ago, there was a huge backlog of grain exports.
Hemmes was asked if the railways will be ready to move a large crop to market.
He says the railways have said they will be ready.
He says he is not about to second guess the railways.
If there are any delays, he said it will be a result of some new, unforseen cause.
Mark Hemmes is the President of Quorum Corporation, which monitors grain movement on behalf of the federal government.
