Regina police are sharing the story of a happy ending to a case of an injured and abandoned dog.
Police found the dog laying on the sidewalk in the area of 15th avenue and Toronto street with a bad foot fracture.
It’s believed the female dog fell from a second story window.
The dog, nicknamed Sweetie Bear, spent time at the Humane society, awaiting medical attention.
Regina police launched a fundraising effort among employees and friends for the medical attention.
The pup is recovering.
The previous owner did not want the dog, but a member of the police felt an immediate connection and adopted the dog.
The dog has been renamed Akela, which is Hawaiian for lucky.
