The Federated Co-op Refinery Complex in Regina is about to become the only refinery in North America to recycle all of its wastewater for steam production.
It will be used for heating, hydrogen production, to power equipment, and for cooling towers. The company is installing GE’s advanced water recycling technology which will enable the refinery to recycle 100 per cent of its wastewater on site.
Gil Le Dressay, Vice President Refinery operation says, the wastewater project will allow them to be efficient and sustainable, cleaning and recycling all of its wastewater in a socially responsible and environmentally sound way.
The system can recycle and reuse 2 million gallons of water per day.
The project is expected to be fully operational by this fall.
