Community agencies and families of some missing women gathered to discuss their concerns and make sure their voice will be heard during the inquiry.
Dr. Dawn Lavell-Harvard from the Native Women’s Association of Canada spoke at the conference and wants to bring concerns forward to the Status of Women Minister Patty Hajdu.
“We’re really working with the families to make sure that they’re going to be able to be engaged, that they’re prepared, that the provinces are going to be able to provide the supports that the families need going into this process,” said Lavell-Harvard.
The inquiry was launched on August 3, and a final report from the inquiry is expected be filed by the end of 2018.
