A miner is recovering in hospital after being attacked in northern Saskatchewan by a wolf.
It happened Monday morning at the Cameco Cigar Lake Uranium Mine.
The company says the worker was taking a break outside when he was attacked by the animal.
A security guard witnessed the attack and scared the wolf away.
The worker was airlifted to Saskatoon to be treated for his injuries which are considered non life-threatening.
The company says this is the first time an incident like this has happened and that conservation officers are at the mine dealing with it. They add Cameco has taken a number of steps to educate employees about the potential risks of wildlife.
