The Canola Council of Canada says it is pleased with news China has agreed to delay implementation of tighter dockage levels in canola.
Prime Minister Trudeau and the Chinese Premier stated in Beijing current rules will remain until a long-term solution is reached in the ”days and weeks ahead.’
The deadline to reach an agreement of sorts was September 1st.
Canola Council spokesman Brian Innes says discussions will continue about Chinese concerns regarding the canola disease ”blackleg”.
Innes says scientific evidence shows China should not be concerned about blackleg getting into domestic fields.
China is our largest canola customer and any delays in shipments will great affect Western Canadian farmers.
