The program, started in 2011, aims to revitalize main street facilities in downtown municipalities across the province.
There are now 18 communities taking part in the two-tiered program. Municipalities can join the Affiliate level of the program and then later be accepted to the Accredited level.
“Communities apply for that, they bring their ideas forward, and then they’re granted —on a two-stage process — funds that help them do that and coordinate volunteer hours,” said Ken Cheveldayoff, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport.
$300,000 in matching grant funds have been provided to communities from the government of Saskatchewan this year.
