Jackie Robin with Ag West Biotech says biotechnology has laid the ground work for modern agriculture and ensured farming remains profitable in a challenging climate.
She says modern canola varieties have been developed through biotechnology.
She says canola has become a multi-billion dollar industry for Saskatchewan farmers.
As well, she points to biotechnology for advances in zero till farming.
She says improved crop yields and the use of fewer pesticides are due to biotechnology developments.
