Mothers against Drunk Driving sat down with provincial SGI minister Joe Hargrave and justice minister Gord Wyant on Tuesday to talk about what can be done to make drinking and driving laws in our province tougher.
Andrew Murie is the CEO of Madd Canada. He says the get-together was a very productive one as the government does realize the seriousness of the problem, and that already tough laws need to be tougher.
There has been a call for drinking and driving laws to become stricter after several high-profile cases this year including one involving former deputy Premier Don McMorris.
“Enforcement is a big tool. I think that the fear of losing your vehicle, the fear of conviction through enforcement will continue to change attitudes,” said Gord Wyant, minister responsible for justice.
