SGI is changing its Safe Driver Recognition program on Wednesday.
Started in 2002, the program is a way to reward safe drivers and change bad driving habits.
Kelley Brinkworth with SGI says drivers responsible for collisions will lose points based on how serious the accident was.
The safety rating scale will grow by one point a year for the next five years from plus 20 to plus 25 as a way to reward safe drivers.
Financial penalties will be doubling from 25 dollars to 50 dollars per point in the penalty zone.
