A 16 year old girl has pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of 6 week old Nikosis Cantre, but the family says they still want to see the girl sentenced as an adult.
The teenager had escaped from the Kilburn Youth Hall Correctional Facility when police were called to a home in the 200 block of Waterloo Crescent in East College Park July 3rd. Cantre was rushed to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The 6 weeks old’s grandfather, Jeffrey Longman, says “I wake up in pain every day, wondering how he should have been.”
Longman says the 16 year old “should have known better”.
Outside of court, family members held up signs calling for the youth to be sentenced as an adult.
The 16 year old will next appear in court November 10th.
